Do you operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year?

Yes – but bookings need to be made in advance.  You can contact us via our website / Facebook page 24 hours a day or our telephone booking line 01226 952002 is open daily from 07.00 to 21.00.

Will I be given a specific driver / vehicle?

Yes – you will be allocated a specific driver and vehicle at the time of your booking.  You will also be given the driver’s mobile phone number so that you can contact them directly, for example if you need to let us know that you are delayed collecting your luggage at the airport.

Do you charge if we have to change or cancel our booking with you?

We have always put the customer at the heart of our business, and our overriding principle is that you only pay if you actually use our service.  So for the vast majority of our customers we don’t ask for any money up-front and we don’t charge if you need to change or cancel your booking.

We may ask for a deposit if you are making a large booking (e.g. if you require 4 vehicles for a wedding), but even then we will refund this if you can give us sufficient notice to be able to book other work in.

What type of payment methods do you accept?

We accept the following:

  • Cash  (£ Sterling)
  • All major debit / credit cards  (all of our drivers have card readers or you can pay by card by telephone / text link via our office on 01226 952002)
  • The Barnsley Gift Card  (https://townandcitygiftcards.com/product/barnsley-gift-card/)
  • Paypal  (contact our office on 01226 952002)

Do your fares change at night or at different times of the year?

We charge the same fares regardless of the time of day (we like the quiet roads at night).  The only time our fares are different is around the Christmas / New Year periods.  Fares are higher at these times of year because we feel it is important to recognise the sacrifices our drivers are making by working and not being with their families.  If you are travelling during these periods we would advise of the specific rates at the time of your enquiry.

What happens if my flight into the UK is delayed?

We track every incoming flight and will adjust your pickup time accordingly at no extra charge.  If you have any information which might be of assistance to your driver you are welcome to either contact the driver directly or let the office know and we will pass it on.

How do I find my driver at the airport?

Our drivers provide a free Meet and Greet service at the airport and will usually meet you near the terminal exit with a “Broadway Travel Barnsley” welcome board.  You and your driver will normally also have each other’s mobile phone numbers so you can ring / text each other directly if necessary.

Can you provide child seats?

Yes – all of our drivers have child seats which you can use free of charge.  However, you need to let us know in advance as we do not carry them in our vehicles unless they have been requested.  Alternatively, you are welcome to use your own child seats and we can save them for your return journey if required.

Under the law, in taxis and private hire vehicles you are also permitted to carry a child without a child seat provided they sit in the rear of the vehicle. If they are 3 years or older they must also wear an adult seat belt Link : Child car seats: the law

Are you fully insured and licensed?

Yes.  All of our drivers and vehicles are comprehensively insured for private hire taxi work (“hire and reward”).

We are fully licensed as a Private Hire Operator by Barnsley Council, the local licensing authority.  Our Operator’s Licence number is 091769.  We are also on Barnsley Council’s approved list of school transport providers.

All of our drivers are also individually licensed as Private Hire drivers by Barnsley Council and each driver carries their Barnsley Council driver identification badge at all times.

Do your drivers have regular police (DBS) and health checks?

Yes – all of our drivers have to undertake regular Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and have regular medicals, otherwise they would not be able to obtain a private hire driver licence from Barnsley Council.

Do you provide a local taxi service around Barnsley?

No – our business model has always been based on longer distance bookings with a focused, motivated team of people who love what they do.  We are happy to take “out of town” bookings for Sheffield, Leeds, Wakefield, Doncaster etc and further afield, but we don’t provide taxis to the local shops or taking people home from Barnsley town centre at night.

Can I smoke / vape / drink alcohol in your vehicles?

We are sorry but for legal and health and safety reasons we cannot allow this.
